Why Green Cleaning?
Green cleaning is superior because a clean, green home is free of dirt and germs, but also free of toxic pollution.
What is a Toxin?
A toxin is a chemical that cause skin irritation, burning eyes, or human illness if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed through the skin.
According to the Federal Hazardous Substances Act, house cleaning products are the only household products for which manufacturers are not required to list all ingredients. Since these ingredients, particularly fragrances, are considered ‘trade secrets,’ consumers are left in the dark.
This lack of full disclosure is important because the chemicals found in ‘conventional’ cleaning products have been shown to have, or are strongly suspected of having, health or environmental consequences even when used according to package directions.
Learn more about these dangers in the U.S. Department of Health and Services Household Products Database, and be your own advocate.
Cleaning Up Indoor Air Pollution
According to the EPA, indoor air is 5-10 more times polluted than outdoor air, even in the most industrialized cities.
Green cleaning is all about air quality. When you use chemical-based products to clean, you’re polluting the air, not cleaning.
Green cleaning turns that theory upside down. When you practice green cleaning, it means that your traditional notions of ‘clean’ are all there: the shelves and furniture are dusted, the mirrors and windows are streak-free, the bathroom sparkles, and the carpets and floors are spotless…
But the green clean difference is that your rooms are not only dirt-free, the air is healthy and fresh too.
